Project Summary

FamilySearch is a free to use online Family Tree and Family Records service. It was originally created for people in the US, but after its rapid global growth, more and more people from around the world started to use it. With the global expansion of its users, FamilySearch developed teams/divisions dedicated to specific regions around the world. As the Lead Product Engineer for the APAC division, I was tasked with the culturalization of the product. My goal was to create a comfortable and familiar experience to users with different cultures and languages. To do this, I researched and compiled information on each country’s culture, religions, language, and design.

TL;DR

A service to be used globally by people of different cultures and languages needs to be able to configure to their specific needs. Culturalization allows more users of all background to user the service.
